Sherry Tartack Zlotnikoff (Chef Lisa Schroeder’s sister), was born in Philadelphia in 1944.  She grew up in restaurants – her parents had a restaurant in south Philly, and then her mother opened a tiny luncheonette in downtown Philadelphia called “The Little Spot.”  Because her mother was always working, Sherry grew up fast, and married shortly after she finished Harcum College when she was nineteen.  She soon became a motherand focused on raising her two sons and being the perfect housewife.  She made wonderful dinners for her family every single night, and loved to host parties for friends and family, always trying new recipes and fancy presentations.

Sherry was always a devoted mother, but once her children were in school, she began to explore different careers.  She always mastered whatever career she chose, from selling clothes to making beautiful gift baskets for her own business which she started out of her house.  Eventually she took over a decorative live plant business which today designs and maintains interior tropical plants for office buildings, businesses and homes.  Although her business keeps her quite busy, Sherry still finds time to welcome her extended family, now with four grandchildren, into her home for holidays and special occasions.  Every family member looks forward to some of their old favorites, but Sherry can’t help but try something new and different any time she entertains.  This month we’re serving some of our favorites…we hope you enjoy!
