Eleanor Gorman
Eleanor is the proud mother to Caroline and Cathy, grandmother to Sydney and Levi, and wife to Michael. She is a photographer, art lover, and storyteller with a curiosity about the world and people.
In mid-life she followed her dream of studying art history and photography and began her journey at Massachusetts College of Art & Design, graduating in 2000 with a BFA in Photography. The lives of her family have been well documented photographically! She loves visiting galleries, museums, and good restaurants. She enjoys travel adventures with her daughters and grandchildren and quiet days and nights with her husband.
After working for twelve years as staff photographer for a Portland-based health care company, Eleanor retired in 2018. Her life changed suddenly in March 2020 when she contracted a deadly staph infection. She began a seven-month journey of surgeries and rehabilitation. Following open heart surgery, a stroke and other complications, she’s made a miraculous full recovery.
Her brush with mortality has given her a new outlook on family, love and the many simple joys of life. Eleanor continues to work on personal photography projects mostly following the theme of family. You can see her portfolio at www.eleanorgormanphotography.com.
