After almost two decades on Southwest Second Avenue, Mother’s Bistro & Bar is moving to a larger space inside downtown Portland’s Embassy Suites hotel.

Jordan Inglee – Chef Lisa Schroeder leads a parade from the old location of Mother’s Bistro & Bar to its new home by downtown Portland’s Embassy Suites hotel.

On Wednesday, chef Lisa Schroeder and the March Fourth Marching Band led a parade of staff and loyal customers from the restaurant’s original home to the new location, at 121 S.W. Third Ave., where they will begin serving its mix of comfort food and global cuisine on Monday, Jan. 21.

Mother’s, which opened in 2000, emphasizes home-style cooking, and features special monthly menus showcasing dishes from a “Mother of the Month.” Those specials go with the regular menu of mom-style dishes like chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, pot roast and macaroni and cheese.

The larger location should cut wait times for tables, which could be lengthy in the old location during peak dining hours and for weekend brunch.
